Toronto Phase I-IIa Unit
Specialists in First-in-man, Phase IIa clinical trials and Pulmonary Function Testing
Since 1999, ARI, has been conducting clinical pharmacology studies.
ARI’s Phase I unit in Toronto has two 34 in-patient units plus an 8-bed intensive observation unit (IOU). All units can conduct independent studies simultaneously or be combined to house a large 76-subject study. The layout of the clinic ensures that subjects can be monitored from a central location.
In-house Specialty Equipment and Procedures
Endoscopy: Our endoscopy suite, in Toronto, may be set up for conducting regional absorption PK studies that require endoscopically placed catheters that provide perfusion of drug to a known, specific part of the intestine. It is also well suited for minor surgical procedures.
Pulmoany Function Lab: Our Pulmonary Function Lab includes a Sensor Medic Vmax™ 22 system for full pulmonary function testing including capacity for performing lung volumes by nitrogen diffusion and single-breath carbon monoxide diffusing capacity (DLCO). We can also perform bronchial challenge studies with methacholine, histamine, antigen, mediator and drug.
Our experience in site management allows us to easily conduct Phase I studies where part of the clinical component is outside of our facility. For example, we have run studies using local PET imaging labs.
